Our October 17th launch of a new Saturday evening service is almost upon us!

Why are we launching a new Saturday service? To hear about some of the reasons, the biblical inspiration, and for the story behind this new Saturday service launch, watch the video below.

But beyond that, we also wanted to share some extra material not mentioned in that message, mostly of testimonies or stories from people who were a part of our one-month pilot back in May. Why? Because the heart behind Saturday is of course to reach more people with the hope of Jesus.

Here’s what one person wrote in our post-pilot feedback: “I see Oceanside as a lighthouse on a hill. When the lights are on, you know there is someone there looking out trying to get people to notice.”

So, we are turning on the lights on Saturday!

Who are we turning the lights on for? Here are a few stories and examples.

Those Who Have To Work

Some people simply can’t make Sundays due to work schedules. One person said they are frequently “exhausted” from their work and mornings are hard and that they would “come more often” if there were an evening option. Some even mentioned how they can now worship with their spouse together for the first time in years because their spouse always works on Sunday.

“I can never make it to Sunday services [as I] have to work”

“Saturday service has been so helpful for me. I work every Sunday and cannot attend.”

“Because I work Sunday evenings, a Saturday service allows my family to fellowship with less rush and more intention, it creates space and balance I strive to have for myself and my family.”

We are turning the lights on for these people.

Limitations

Some people are unable to make Sundays due to limitations stemming from their current season/stage in life.

“With [our baby] being a newborn, mornings are hard to get momentum going for anything. The Saturday evening services provided a way for my family to get to church, be in God’s presence, and connect with people that we hadn’t been able to previously due to my work commitments. It has meant a lot the last 3 services being able to come, hear God’s word, share our story with people who genuinely wanted to hear it and pray and support us through everything. Oceanside has been the biggest blessing in our lives, and being able to be with everyone on a Saturday night and feel that connection has meant the world to us.”

“I am in an extremely busy season in life with lots going on and Saturday night is open for me! I understand that Sunday is the day of rest and this allows me to soak in church and all its goodness on a Saturday evening and carry it through to a restful Sunday while having the time to process and really prayerfully consider the message received the night before. Even if I’m still doing house and yard work on a Sunday, my mind is resting in the message from the night before.”

Something Different

Some are just looking for something different, and Saturday provides a unique vibe with slightly less people as well. As one person said, “I enjoyed the quieter setting."

“Saturday brought the special experience of being a part of something different, something unique that only the ‘Saturday crowd’ could say they were a part of.”

We are turning the lights on for these people.

Helping Grow the Kingdom

To fulfill the Great Commission, we are called to spread the gospel to the 'ends of the earth'. We think that a good start would be to spread the gospel to the 'ends of the Oceanside region.' By coming on Saturday you are helping grow all three of our services: you’re growing Saturday by being there and you’re growing Sunday by not being there and making more room for those services to continue to grow and reach new people in the Oceanside area. It’s a triple blessing!

We are turning the lights on for Kingdom of God!

See you on Saturdays beginning October 17!
